Psalm 62: 5-12

Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. He alone is my rock and salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on my God; he is my mighty rock, my refuse. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuse. Selah

Lowborn men are but a breath, the highborn are but a lie; if weighted on a balance, they are nothing; together they are only a breath. Do not trust in extortion or take pride in stolen goods; though you riches increase, do not set your heart on them.

One thing has God spoken, two things I have heard:  that you, O God, are strong, and that you O God are loving. Surely you will reward each person according to what he has done.

A Thought

Our rest can only come with faith and trust in God alone. He is our mighty rock and salvation, our refuse in whom we can pour out our hearts. In contrast, men of low estate are not equipped to help anyone while men of high estate may have the means to help but only disappoint those who put their trust in them. Ill-gotten gain usually quickly come to nothing, so do not expect them to give you rest.

Remember, God is strong and loving, we can trust him alone. He will reward each of us according to what we have done. Take hope with faith in God’s word to receive salvation and rest that only comes from him.

Our Prayer

Father thank you for our rest and salvation that comes by faith and accepting your son, Jesus the Christ. Our riches are found in your word of hope given to each of us through the power of your Holy Spirit. We desire to be your messengers of this hope to others, in Jesus’ name, amen.
