1 Corinthians 7: 29-31

What I mean, brothers, is that the time is short. From now on those who have wives should live as if they have none; those who mourn, as if they did not; those who are happy, as if they were not; those who buy something, as if it were not theirs to keep; those who use the things of the world, as if not engrossed in them. For this world in it’s present form is passing away.

A Thought

Paul is speaking about the importance of using our time wisely. Proverbs 11:30 tells us that “he who wins souls is wise”. As Christians we should win the lost to Christ by the lives that we live–not with our main focus on ourselves and the things that we possess. God teaches us that our focus should be on how we can live godly lives and how we can produce fruit for him. This world is passing away while the new heaven and earth is eternal. Be encouraged by the words of John Wesley to “Do all the good you can, By all the means you can, In all the ways you can, In all the places you can, At all the times you can, To all the people you can, As long as ever you can.”

Our Prayer

Father thank you for the many everyday opportunities that we have to be a messenger to give your love and mercy to others in this present world that is slowly passing away. We desire to bring glory and honor to you. Open our eyes that we will see and do the work you have equipped each of us to accomplish during our short lives here on this earth. We ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
