Hebrews 4: 12-16

“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to him we must give an account.

Therefore, since we have a high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are–yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

A Thought

Our world is in the middle of a pandemic of sickness, division and unrest; there is sin all around. As a generation as a whole, we have separated ourselves from the authority of God’s word. Some even say that science will provide the answers we need instead of the mercy and grace of God! We must return to the truth of God’s word to find our hope of healing. God is the Almighty creator of all heaven and earth–the maker and giver of all life, including each of us. God has given us the Holy Bible by his God-breathed word to teach, rebuke, correct, and to train and equip us for every good work. His word is more than just printed words–it is alive and actively at work. It is far sharper than any double-sided sword that can cut deeper than our vision can imagine. It divides our soul and spirit, our joints and bone marrow, and judges even our thoughts and intent of our hearts–nothing is hidden from God. We are all guilty before God sentenced to death because of our disobedience to his word. Good News! God loved us so much that he sent his Son, Jesus Christ to pay the price of our sin with his shed blood on the cross. Jesus will become our righteousness when we accept and receive the truth of his word by faith. Then we can receive with confidence the mercy to find grace to help us in our time of need. We must decide and to be committed to live and grow by faith in God’s word.

Our Prayer

Father we have sinned against you and your word of truth. Awaken us by the power of your Holy Spirit to read, believe and to live by the authority of your inspired word. We desire to hide it in our heart that we will not sin against you. Forgive us, we ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
