Ephesians 2: 1-3

As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath.

A Thought

What does it mean to be “dead in your transgressions and sins”? This is the state of all natural persons who are still separated from God because of their disobedience. They are following the ways of the world by following the desires and thoughts of how to please themselves. When Adam in the Garden of Eden disobeyed God, we became dead in our transgressions and sins and deserving of the wrath of God. But, there is good news to come! Thanks be to God!

Our Prayer

Father forgive us for our sinful nature and teach us to submit to your will for our lives.Thank you for our deliverance from death and disobedience to you that can be found in your Son, Jesus the Christ, Amen.
