John 3: 14-21

Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. This is the verdict:  Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.”

A Thought

Have you ever wondered why anyone would not receive the love and mercy of God that is a free gift that would save them from perishing? We were all born into this world in the darkness of sin. God sent his Son, Jesus Christ, the Light of the world to expose and to deliver from sin. The world at that time did not receive the Light that could deliver them from darkness; so they chose to have Jesus die on a bloody cross. Christ, the perfect one who knew no sin, died a sinners death on the cross so that our price for sin was paid if we will believe this “good news”. Anyone who will not receive this message of love and grace, loves the darkness of sin because their deeds are evil, will be condemned to death. Receive this gift of God and you will receive eternal life in Christ.

Our Prayer

Father thank you for your gift of eternal life. Expose any darkness of sin in our hearts that we will confess and receive your forgiveness. Fill us with the light of your love that others may see your love for them. We ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
