Psalm 118: 1-2, 14-24

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.

Let Israel say: “His love endures forever.”

The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.

Shouts of joy and victory resound in the tents of the righteous: “The Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!”

I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the Lord has done.

The Lord has chastened me severely, but has not given me over to death.

Open for me the gates of righteousness; I will enter and give thanks to the Lord. This is the gate of the Lord through which the righteous may enter. I will give you thanks for you answered me; you have become my salvation.

The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes. This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

A Thought

We, along with Israel, must all give thanks to our Lord with shouts of joy for his loving kindness that endures forever. Our Lord has become our salvation by opening the gates of his righteousness by giving himself as our blood sacrifice for the penalty for our sins. Israel rejected Christ as their promised Messiah, but through their rejection Christ became the foundation of the Church for all believers, including Israel. Let all people rejoice every day for God’s marvelous gift of love and salvation made possible by the life, death, and resurrection of his Son-Jesus the Christ!

Our Prayer

Farther we rejoice because Jesus is alive! We rejoice because Jesus has become our salvation and has restored our fellowship with you! We desire to walk in the righteousness of Christ! You are our strength and song! Fill our hearts with gladness! Thank you for not leaving us in the death of sin! Thank you that we are now alive in Christ. We praise you in Jesus’ name, amen.
