Acts 3: 12-19

While the beggar held on to Peter and John, all the people were astonished and came running to them in the place called Salomon’s Colonnade. When Peter saw this, he said to them:  “Men of Israel, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus. You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, through he had decided to let him go. You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you. You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this. By faith in the name of Jesus, this man by whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has given this complete healing to him, as you can all see.

A Thought

Peter, John and a crowd of people had just witnessed the miracle of Peter taking a lame beggar by the hand and speaking, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk”. When Peter helped him up, instantly the man jump to his feet, walked and praised God! Peter immediately sets the crowd straight as to whom performed this miracle:  It was the Holy and Righteous One that they had disowned and had killed while they set a murderer free. They killed the One who gives life, but God raised him from the dead. It was by faith in the name of Jesus that they had all witnessed the complete healing of the lame beggar.

Our Prayer

Father thank you for giving us the mighty name of Jesus Christ that we can all receive our complete healing by faith in his name. Give us the boldness and faith to ask in his holiness and righteousness–not in our own. Thank you that in Christ we can be made whole. We praise you in the name of Jesus, amen.
