1 John 3: 1-3
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called the children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. Everyone who has this hope in him, purifies himself, just as he is pure.
A Thought
If we are to be the children of God, we are to purify ourselves, just as Christ is pure. We are living in a world polluted with sin; we cannot be made pure within ourselves. It is only by receiving the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ for our forgiveness of sin. This was made possible when God the Father loved us so much that he sent his Son to redeem us to enable a relationship with him as his children. It is made possible by this faith and belief in Christ the Son of God who came to earth to live, die as our perfect blood sacrifice for our sins and his resurrection from the dead that our payment for sins can be completely paid.
Our Prayer
Thank you for your love for us that was witnessed by our redemption from sin by the gift of your Son. We must still live in this body of flesh, but soon we will be made complete in Christ with a new body. Give us the power of your Holy Spirit not to sin, but to hold to our hope in you to purify our lives with your Word. We ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
