1 John 3: 4-10
Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And that in him is no sin. No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.
Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. He who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. No one who is born of God will continue to sin; because God’s seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God. This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother.
A Thought
If we are the children of God, we will do what is right. If we continue to sin, we have never known who God is. So do not be led astray to believe a lie and be damned. We must no longer follow the works of the devil. If God’s seed is to remain in us, we are to no longer sin. If we are to be a child of God we must do what is right and also we must love our brother. Be not deceived! Believe God’s word is truth!
Our Prayer
Father we desire to be your faithful, dear children. Thank you that Jesus the Christ is our intercessor for the forgiveness of our sins. When we do error, help us to confess at that moment in humble sorrow and repentance so we may be forgiven. Awaken us by the power of your Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with your word that we will not sin against you and that we will receive your love for our brothers as we walk in your truth. We ask in faith, believing in Jesus’ name, amen.
