1 John 3: 21-24
Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him. And this is his command: to believe in his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. Those who obey his commands live in him, and he in them. And this is how we know he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gives us.
A Thought
God commands his dear children to believe in his Son, Jesus Christ, to love one another and obey his commands found in his Holy Scriptures. We need to have faith to believe that God’s love for us is so great that Jesus Christ will forgive all of our sins. When we have this confidence, we love one another, obey his commands, we live in him and he lives in us. We know he lives in is by his Spirit that he gives to us and we can ask and receive anything from God because our desire will be to be like Christ.
Our Prayer
Father we know that Jesus has forgiven us from all sins and you have given us your Spirit living within us. Help us to continue to grow in faith as we obey your commands to love you and love one another. Forgive us for not fully relying on the accomplishments of Jesus shed blood on the cross. In your love you found us to be worthy of your righteousness. Help us to live in the righteousness of Christ, not in our own, believing that you desire to make our hearts pure and we can ask and receive answers from you. Thank you in Jesus’ name, amen.
