Acts 8: 36-40

As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is some water. Why shouldn’t I be baptized?” And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. When they got up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing. Philip however, appeared at Azotus and traveled about, preaching the gospel in all of the towns until he reached Caesarea.

A Thought

After the eunuch had received the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ as Philip had explained the Scriptures from Isaiah, the eunuch saw water and immediately was baptized by Philip. The eunuch and Philip both were obedient. After receiving Jesus as the Christ, the eunuch was baptized in water and then continued his journey filled with joy. The Spirit of the Lord suddenly carried Philip away to Azotus where he kept preaching to the Gentiles and all the nations the good news of Jesus Christ until he reached Caesarea.

When we receive the love of Jesus Christ by accepting him as our perfect sacrifice for our sins, we must continue in obedience with our baptism. We should rejoice and tell others what Jesus has accomplished for all people by his life, death and resurrection as we continue to grow with love to become more like Christ Jesus.

Our Prayer

Father thank you for all your obedient ministers of the gospel of Christ. Awaken us by the power of your great love for us to enable us to use our gifts and talents to being others to the knowledge of the truth of your love for them. We ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
