Psalm 98
Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm has worked salvation for him. The Lord has made his salvation known and revealed his righteousness to the nations. He has remembered his love and his faithfulness to the house of Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music; make music to the Lord with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing, with trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn–shout for joy before the Lord, the King.
Let the sea resound, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it. Let the rivers clap their hands, let the mountains sing together for joy; let them sing before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples with equity.
A Thought
Everyone gets excited about one thing or another at some point in their lifetime. With some it may be a sports activity when their team is winning, some a new baby or grandchild, a new car, a new house, a new job or perhaps winning the lottery. God wants us to get excited, jubilant and to shout to the Lord! Remember Jesus Christ in his righteousness has made salvation from sin possible to all the ends of the earth! The seas, the rivers, the mountains, the earth and everything in it know how to praise the One who will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples with justice without partiality. As redeemed believers should we not shout, sing and make jubilant music for joy before our Lord and King? Let us try to get excited! Forget about the evils of this life, rejoice, be glad for what God in his love has done for us! Praise his holy name!
Our Prayer
Father we do not worship you enough nor give you the praise that you are worthy to receive. Fill us with a joyful and thankful heart of love for you. We ask for your gift of music filled with your praise. Help us to take our focus off ourselves and to surround ourselves with you in worship and joyful praise. We ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
