1 John 5: 9-13
We accept man’s testimony, but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son. Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.
A Thought
John gives his testimony about the Son of God, but John explains that God’s testimony is greater than any man’s testimony. If we receive God’s testimony of his Son, Jesus the Christ, we have Him in our heart and we know eternal life in Him. If we do not believe God’s testimony, we make Him out to be a liar; we do not have the Son and we do not have life. We are dead in our sins, if we don’t have God’s Son.
Our Prayer
Holy Father, thank you for your testimony and gift of your Son that we may receive eternal life. Thank you that your Word is truth. Thank you that your Holy Spirit confirms our testimony of Jesus Christ in our lives so that others may believe in you. Let the words of our mouth and the mediations of our heart be acceptable to you. We ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
