Mark 3: 20-22

Then Jesus entered a house, and a crowd gathered, so that he and his disciples were not even able to eat. When his family heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.”

And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said, “He is possessed by Beelzebub! By the prince of demons he is driving out demons!”

A Thought

After the baptism of Jesus, Jesus entered the ministry his Heavenly Father had sent him to accomplish by his teachings, preaching, healings and driving out many demons. Jesus called to himself twelve apostles and gave them authority to preach and to heal. Jesus’ teachings and healing on the Sabbath was not well received by the religious sects of that day but the crowds brought their sick and followed them to the point they were unable to stop and eat. After hearing these things, Jesus’ family came to take charge of him, believing he was out of his mind. The teachers of the law reject Jesus to the point of accusing him to be possessed by the devil. A lot of times the more we speak out for the truth the more we are rejected by others. The light of the gospel exposes the evil of our lives. We can choose the truth and separate ourselves from the world or we can reject the truth and live in darkness separated from God.

Our Prayer

Father thank you for the strength to be separate from this world of sin as we enter into the obedience of your Word. Help us to be more concerned about how your Word will judge each one of us on that final day rather than what this world of darkness thinks of us. We ask for your Holy Spirit to lead us to live Godly lives in Jesus’ name, amen.
