Ezekiel 2: 1-6

He said to me, “Son of man, stand up on your feet and I will speak to you.” As he spoke the Spirit came into me and raised me to my feet, and I heard him speaking to me.

He said, “Son of man, I am sending you to the Israelites, to a rebellious nation that has rebelled against me; they and their fathers have been in revolt against me to this very day. The people to whom I am sending you are obstinate and stubborn. Say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says.’ And whether they listen or fail to listen–for they are a rebellious house–they will know that a prophet has been among them. And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them or their words.  Do not be afraid, through briers and thorns are all around you and you live among scorpions. Do not be afraid of what they say or terrified by them, though they are a rebellious house.”

A Thought

Ezekiel received a heavenly vision of God’s magnificent glory and the Spirit of God entered into Ezekiel as he heard the voice of God speaking to him. God prepared Ezekiel not to be afraid, but to speak warnings to the rebellious house of Israel. God made Ezekiel a watchman over Israel. God warned Ezekiel to speak to the wicked man that he will die if he does not turn from his wicked ways and if Ezekiel does not warn the wicked, he will be accountable for their blood. Is there someone God wants you to speak his warning about their wickedness? Pray and trust the Spirit to lead you and do not be afraid, God will give you the right word to speak.

Our Prayer

Father we ask for your Spirit to speak and lead us to someone who needs to hear the good news of your love for them, in Jesus’ name, amen.
