Ephesians 5: 15-21
Be very careful, then, how you live–not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.
Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Submit yourselves to one another out of reverence for Christ.
A Thought
We were just told in verse 14 to “Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you”. Now Paul explains what this means to us: Be very careful. Live as the wise who makes the most of every opportunity to show others the love and grace of Christ for this is the will of God. Be aware not to get drunk on wine; be filled with the Spirit of God speaking with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and give thanks with music in your heart to God the Father in the name of Jesus the Christ. Remember how we treat others is the real way we treat Christ.
Our Prayer
Father forgive us for the way we respond to our spouse, our children and others in these trying times. Now Lord we ask that you fill us with a song of praise in our heart that we may shine the light of Christ for others to know you. We ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
