James 4: 7-10
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
A Thought
Today’s Scripture is very clear on how we are to live our everyday lives. If we will center our will around God and his word, we can resist the temptations of the devil. God wants us to be in a submissive daily relationship with him. When we permit God to hold us close, he will make our heart clean. We will be sorrowful for the things we have committed wrongly. God will lift us up when we bow down to him.
Our Prayer
Father, we thank you for a clean heart made possible because of your love for us and your Son Jesus giving his life for ours. Help us to live our lives for you and serve others everyday. In Jesus’ name we ask, amen.
