Hebrews 4: 12-16

For the word of the Lord is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight.  Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we possess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

A Thought

Yes, God’s word is alive. There is nothing that can be hidden from it. It can cut through the bones and marrow. It can divide the soul and spirit; leaving our hearts open where God fully knows our thoughts and attitudes. We will each one give an account for the lives we have lived. Our only hope is to hold to the faith in our high priest, Jesus Christ, and what he has accomplished through his life, death and resurrection for each of us. The One who has been tempted in every way that we are tempted can now provide the mercy and grace in all our times of need. Jesus paid the price of our sin and now we can come to him with confidence. If we ask him, he will forgive us of all sin and provide all that we need in this life and the life to come.

Our Prayer

Father, thank you that through the perfect work of Jesus, we can have confidence that you are all we need. Help us to share your great love to those who do not know your love and forgiveness. In Jesus name. Amen.
