Mark 10: 28-31

Peter said to him, “We have left everything to follow you!” “I tell you the truth,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age (homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and fields – and with them persecutions) and in the age to come, eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”

A Thought

Jesus was telling the rich young ruler how to have eternal life and treasure in heaven; Jesus is now saying the same thing to his disciples who have left everything and followed Christ. He went on to say that the things of this world does not come without problems. If our lives are filled with too many problems, it may be time for us to lay up treasures in heaven and not to have so many possessions here on earth.

Our Prayer

Father, help us not to be weighed down by the many blessings we have received. Show us how to be a blessing to others with the things we possess. We desire to see the needs of others and give in secret so our treasure will be in you. In Jesus name. Amen.
