Ruth 4: 13-17
So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife. Then he went to her, and the Lord enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son. The women said to Naomi: “Praise the Lord, who this day has not left you without a kinsman-redeemer. May he become famous throughout Israel! He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age. For your daughter-in-law, who loves you and who is better to you than seven sons, has given him birth.” Then Naomi took the child, laid him in her lap and cared for him. The women living there said, “Naomi has a son.” And named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David.
A Thought
Ruth was a Moab woman who married a son of Naomi, from Bethlehem. After the death of Naomi’s husband and both her sons, Naomi felt bitter, afflicted and without hope. Do any of you feel some of these same emotions? God wants each of us to know never give up. God is working for our good even when we are at our lowest point in our lives. In the same manner that God gave Naomi a renewed life by the birth of a grandson who was family bloodline to David, the greatest king of Israel–God has given each of us the opportunity to be a part of the family of God. Trust God. Never give up. Jesus the Christ is The Way for all of us.
Our Prayer
Father, today we pray for the needs of all those around each of us, especially the ones without hope. Send someone (each of us) to give hope to the lost through your Son, Jesus Christ. Thank you for giving hope and a new life to all who will ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.
