Mark 13: 5-8
Jesus said to them: “Watch out that no one deceives you. Many will come in my name, claiming,’I am he,’ and will deceive many. When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.
“You must be on your guard. You will be handed over to the local councils and flogged in the synagogues. On account of me you will stand before governors and kings as witnesses to them. And the gospel must first be preached to all nations.”
A Thought
Jesus will return to gather his children to be with him forever never to suffer sin, sickness, or death again. When will this be? Only the Father knows for sure. What must we do? We must watch and pray not be deceived, and do not be alarmed. We can trust God through all the hardships that must happen; God will take care of his own.
Our Prayer
Father, thank you that we can rest in safety in you. You have made all things possible; help us to live our lives in love and not to fear what may come. You will save us through all things when we stand firm. Thank you in Jesus’ name, Amen.
