Jeremiah 33: 14-16
“The days are coming,’ declares the Lord, ‘when I will fulfill the gracious promise I made to the house of Judah.
‘In those days and at that time I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David’s line; he will do what is just and right in the land. In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will live in safety. This is the name by which it will be called: The Lord Our Righteousness.’
The Thought
Jeremiah was a prophet who tried to get God’s people to repent and return to Him as their God instead of the idols they had made. In these passages the Lord is reminding Jeremiah that even though the cities are now filled with wickedness, the day will come when He will send a righteous Branch, Jesus the Christ, from the bloodline of David to save Judah and Jerusalem will live in safety. Today is the day of salvation for each of us who believe and the Promise of God is eternal.
Our Prayer
Father, thank you for sending Jesus the Christ as ‘The Promised Redeemer’. Now the people of Israel and also each one of us who repent and faithfully live for you, have hope of abundant peace and security in you. We love you and desire to trust you in all things. In Jesus name. Amen.
