Luke 1: 47-55
“My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will called me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me — holy is his name. His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation. He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts. He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty. He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful to Abraham and his descendants forever, even as he said to our fathers.”
A Thought
Mary, the chosen one to be mother of Jesus the Christ, rejoices in God and speaks about herself in prophecy to her cousin Elizabeth. Mary is a humble young virgin woman who is engaged to marry Joseph and is now found to be with child.
My thought is now with Mary considering the shame that people must have placed on she, Joseph and their families. When we choose to follow Christ, it is not always easy. The world will judge you by their own standard, not by God’s standard. God will give each enough grace to become the person that he has chosen us to be regardless of how the world looks upon us. We need only to trust him and never give up. God will fill the hungry with good things while the rich goes away empty. Chose to believe.
Our Prayer
Father encourage each of us to be hungry for you and your way in a world that is filled with unrest. May each of us give Jesus Christ, the true present of Christmas to all that we meet. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
