Colossians 3: 12-17
Therefore as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgive you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
A Thought
God has chosen each of us to become his children through the gift of Jesus the Christ. We must put to death our former earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. These are the things that will bring the wrath of God. We must put on the same virtues as God: compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. We must have a forgiving and loving unity for each other. We must let the word of God live in our hearts that we may teach and admonish each other in love. When we live in peace and unity, we will be thankful and sing songs of gratitude to God our Father.
Our Prayer
Father help us to be a new person in you by the power of the Holy Spirit. We know we want to put off the former ways of our old life; somehow we fall back into our old ways. Forgive us and help us to be reminded of the virtues that you desire for each of us daily. We desire for your word to rule in our hearts that we will draw closer to you. We give you thanks. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
