Psalm 36: 1-4

An oracle is within my heart concerning the sinfulness of the wicked: There is no fear of God before his eyes. For in his own eyes he flatters himself too much to detect or hate his sin. The words of his mouth are wicked and deceitful; he has ceased to be wise and to do good. Even on his bed he plots evil; he commits himself to a sinful course and does not reject what is wrong.

A Thought

This Psalm tells of the heart of the sinful, wicked man. He does not fear God; he thinks too much of himself to even see his sin; therefore, he does not hate sin; the words of his mouth are wicked and deceitful; he is not wise and does not do good; he plots evil; he takes a sinful course and does not reject what is wrong. The only thought I can add is that we all feel that we are right in the things we say and do when we do not have the word of God in our heart to lead us.

Our Prayer

Father help us to let your word transform and restore our lives to be your people and not the sinful, wicked people that we were without you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
