Luke 6: 37-38
“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
A ThoughtÂ
There are at least two kinds of judgement found in scripture for us today that is a true and righteous judgement. When a person does a crime, he must pay the penalty for the crime committed. Also the Church is to use the word of God to keep order in the body. Neither of these two judgements is what Jesus is speaking to the crowd, or to us today, concerning judgement. The message I receive from this scripture is simple and basic. The way we treat others will be the God will treat us. God wants us to be merciful, to forgive others and for us to give to all generously.
Our Prayer
Father help us to treat others with love and compassion. Hopefully they will see you in our actions and be drawn to repentance and deliverance. Help us not to be fault finders in others but to recognize the faults that are still in our lives and to make the needed changes for our deliverance. We desire to be your disciples full of mercy. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
