Psalm 126

When the Lord brought back the captives to Zion, we were like men who dreamed. Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.” The Lord has done great things for us, and we were filled with joy.

Restore your fortunes, O Lord, like streams in the Negev. Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy. He who goes out weeping, caring seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him.

A Thought

Many times we are told in the Old Testament about God bringing Israel out of bondage when things seemed impossible. We need to remember not only the many ways God has delivered Israel but also in a personal way that God has restored each of us. With God there is a law of sowing and reaping. When someone or something is important enough to us, we should cry out to God in prayer and tears. We should spread the seeds of the gospel, and know that God will give us a harvest of joy. Is there someone in your life that needs Jesus Christ that is important enough for you to pray with tears for them to regain their fellowship with God the Almighty? Yes, God will answer when we diligently seek him and then we will be filled with his joy.

Our Prayer

Father help us to know the path of the righteousness man and to know the path of the ungodly man. Wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction and narrow is the way that leads to eternal life. Help us to pray and plant seeds of hope through your gospel of forgiveness. Help us to remember to pray for the lost. We ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
