Revelation 1: 3-8
Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.
John, To the seven churches in the province of Asia:
Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne, and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings off the earth.
To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father–to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.
Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen.
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
A Thought
Revelation is a vision of things in the past, present and yet to come that was given to John from Christ to write to the seven churches in Asia. We are told that all who reads, hears and takes to heart these words of truth will be blessed. This promise makes this message very revealing for us today because the time is near. Christ is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, the one who has freed us by his blood from our sins and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve God the Father. Christ the Almighty is the first, the last, and the one who is to come. Receive hope and also take warning from these words.
Our Prayer
Father thank you for giving us salvation and hope through you Son, Christ Jesus. Help us to read and understand the things that must take place in the world today. Help us to receive warning from the letters written to each of the churches in Asia. We desire to be a kingdom unto you. Help us to watch, pray and be ready when Christ returns in the clouds. We ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
