John 10: 22-30
Then came the Feast of Dedication at Jerusalem. It was winter, and Jesus was in the temple area walking in Solomon’s Colonnade. The Jews gathered around him, saying, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly.”
Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe. The miracles I do in my Father’s name speak for me, but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.”
A Thought
Could it be that the Jews are only looking for the Christ to delivery them out from the hand of the Romans? It appears that the Jews have totally missed submitting themselves to hear the voice that will bring them to a life of service and eternal life in Christ. What are we looking to gain when we hear the Holy Spirit speak to our heart today? What are we willing to give in exchange for eternal life in Christ?
Our Prayer
Father thank you that you and your Son are one. Help us to be one with you in love, service, mercy and grace. We desire to be your sheep; led by your voice into all truth. Thank you for eternal life, in Jesus’ name, amen.
