In a recent sermon, Bro Chuck reminded us that “Listening” is an act of discipleship.  If we are intentional about growing in discipleship, we will seek ways to “Draw near to God and He will be faithful to draw near to us”. (James 4:8)  Mary and Martha loved Jesus, but Martha was distracted by many things…unfocused, anxious in mind.  But Mary chose to be in His presence, to be still and listen.  In this fast paced noisy world of ours, it is even more important to calm our hearts and minds by spending time in God’s presence, just being quiet, listening for His voice through His Word and prayer.  Jesus said, “My sheep know my voice, I know them and they follow me.” (John 10:27) Following Jesus is first and foremost seeking to be in His presence, listening to his voice so that we may know Him and then make Him known to others.
