Hebrews 11: 1-3, 6

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for.

By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

A Thought

Faith is being sure of the hope and certain of what we hold on to until we see the things that are invisible. So what are some of the things we hope for? We hope for salvation, right standing before God, to be like Christ, to be resurrected with Christ, and to inherit eternal life. So how do we gain this hope? We gain this hope by believing that God exists and that he will reward all who earnestly seek him. How do we receive faith to believe? God has given every man a measure of faith; when we trust God and honor his word, we will grow with more faith. If we are to please God, we are going to keep believing and growing in faith. When we see God, we will no longer need faith because we will be like him.

Our Prayer

Father thank you for faith to see the invisible things of you. Thank you for the hope we have in your son, Jesus Christ that makes all things possible. Help us to use the faith we have received from your word to become your disciples and to make more disciples for you. We ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
