Jeremiah 1: 4-10
The word of the Lord came to me, saying,
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations,”
“Ah, Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am only a child.”
But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a child.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.
Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, “Now, I have put my words in your mouth. See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.”
A Thought
Jeremiah was planned by God with purpose and design, as well as all of us, long before he was born. Jeremiah was appointed by God to speak on his behalf “as a prophet to the nations” while he was a child. Jeremiah was equipped by God to accomplish the difficult task of proclaiming the consequences of sin and the hope that God offers. This is the same message we need to speak to the world today. We must not make excuses but know by faith that God will put the right words in our mouth to speak the truth to those in whom we are sent.
Our Prayer
Father thank you for always providing all that we need to give your message of love and forgiveness to our world today. Help us to speak the truth in love that others may be set free by Christ Jesus to be who you created them to be before they were even born, to bring glory and honor to you, We ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
