Psalm 81: 1,10-16
Sing for joy to God our strength; shout aloud to the God of Jacob!
I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt. Open wide your mouth and I will fill it.
But my people would not listen to me; Israel would not submit to me. So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts to follow their own devices.
If my people would but listen to me, if Israel would follow my ways, how quickly would I subdue their enemies and turn my hand against their foes! Those who hate the Lord would cringe before him, and their punishment would last forever. But you would be fed with the finest of wheat; with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.
A Thought
What a different world we would live in today if we would humble ourselves, trusting God in prayer, remembering the marvelous things God has accomplished for us. If we would sing with joy to God and open our mouths with praise, God would protect us from our enemies and fill our mouths with the finest of wheat and honey. If we choose not to listen nor to follow God, we will receive punishment that will last forever. The choice is ours: Choose today to follow God and receive his love, grace, and mercy with all his benefits or either follow our own way that will reap punishment.
Our Prayer
Hallelujah! to your holy name. Father we love and rejoice in you. Thank you for our salvation and protection in you. Thank you for your every provision for our lives. Help us to listen and follow you. We ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
