Philemon 1: 1-7

Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy our brother,

To Philemon our dear friend and fellow worker, to Apphia our sister, to Archippus our fellow soldier and to the church that meets in your home:

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers, because I hear about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints. I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints.

A Thought

Philemon was a Greek landowner that Paul had converted to faith in Christ Jesus. Paul was writing this letter to Philemon and to the church that met in his home. Paul lets them know that although he is in prison, he keeps them in his prayers and sends them encouraging words of faith. Paul encourages them to keep sharing their faith which will enable them to gain a full understanding of every good thing in Christ.

What about you, are you sharing your faith in Jesus Christ with others? Sharing will help increase your faith and knowledge of who you are in Christ and perhaps receive a great joy and encouragement by leading someone to the grace of Jesus Christ through repentance of sin.

Our Prayer

Father we ask that you awaken the hearts of your saints to share the “good news” of your Son with others. We ask that you encourage all who suffer persecution for their faith in you with renewed strength to follow you. Thank you, in Jesus’ name, amen.
