1 Timothy 2: 1-7

I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone–for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases our God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men–the testimony given in its proper time. And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle–I am telling the truth, I am not lying–and a teacher of the true faith to the Gentiles.

A Thought

Paul is writing to Timothy and the Gentile people with instructions about prayer and how to live in peace with each other. First, God wants all to come to the knowledge of the truth–that Christ Jesus gave himself as a ransom for the sins of all mankind. Secondly, God wants all to be saved through Christ Jesus who is the mediator between God and man. Thirdly, all should pray, intercede, and give thanks for all in authority, that we may live in godliness, holiness, and peace with each other. This is the true message God appointed Paul to give faith to the Gentiles and all others who will receive this knowledge of the truth of Christ Jesus.

Our Prayer

Father thank you for faith in Christ Jesus who is our mediator to you. We pray for our leaders, all in authority, and intercede for all who do not live holy lives. Help we to speak your truth in love to others.  We desire to please you with your will to be done in heaven and on earth, in Jesus name, amen.
