Luke 16: 27-31
“He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father’s house, for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’
“Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’
“No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’
“He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’ “
A Thought
The rich man who had failed to receive the warnings from Moses and the Prophets is now in a place of fire and torment. With concern for his five brothers, the rich man asks that Abraham raise the beggar Lazarus from the dead and warn his brothers about this place of torment. Abraham tells the rich ruler that if they do not listen to the warnings of Moses and the Prophets, they would not repent even if someone is raised from the dead. The Good News for us today is that Christ was raised from the dead and left his word for us to live by. We have been warned! Are you listening?
