Luke 1: 68-75

“Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has come and has redeemed his people. He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David (as he said through his holy prophets of long ago), salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us–to show mercy to our fathers and to remember his holy covenant, the oath he swore to our father Abraham: to rescue us from the hand of our enemies, and to enable us to serve him without fear in holiness and righteousness before him all our days.

A Thought

God is always faithful to fulfill his promises even when we are not faithful to him. In todays scripture, Zechariah, the father of John the Baptist, has just received his voice back after he followed the command of the angel of the Lord to name his son John. Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and now prophesied with praise the God of Israel for sending the redeemer of his people that God had promised to father Abraham.

Our Prayer

Father thank you that you rescue us from the hand of our enemies. We desire to serve you in righteousness and holiness made possible by Jesus the Christ. Praise your name for the reconciliation  of our lives to you. In Jesus’ name, amen.
