Acts 10: 44-48
While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. The circumcised believers who had came with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles. For they heard them speak in tongues and praising God.
Then Peter said, “Can anyone keep these people from being baptized with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have.” So he ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked Peter to stay with them for a few days.
A Thought
WOW! What power the Holy Spirit had given to Peter as he spoke the message of the gospel in Jesus the Christ that all who heard the message began to speak in tongues and praising God! The circumcised believers could no longer deny that the Gentile believers should also be baptized with water in the name of Jesus. Praise God that the “good news” of Christ and the Holy Spirit is for everyone including you and me.
Our Prayer
Father thank you for Jesus the Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit. Help us to receive and use this same power to proclaim the gospel of forgiveness. Help us not to be afraid, but to seek your Spirit to empower us to be better witnesses for you that the world may know your love for them. Come, Holy Spirit, come. We ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
