John 1: 1-5
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.
Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.
A Thought
In these few short verses John reveals the gospel of Jesus the Christ, the son of God. Jesus is eternal God who was with God the Father when all things were created. The invisible God came to earth in human form, born unto a virgin, to bring new life to mankind living in the darkness of sin. He is the light that shines in darkness. Through his life, death and resurrection we can now receive his gift of eternal life for all who will receive it by faith. When we read and pray, we can see and understand the light of Christ that gives us hope.
Our Prayer
Thank you that Jesus was sent to pay our penalty of sin. Shine your light of love on us that we may understand, receive the gift of salvation made possible for all. Now help us to shine your light to the world and declare who Jesus the Christ is. We love you, in Jesus’ name, amen.
