1 Corinthians 2: 11-16

The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught by human wisdom but by words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words. The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. The person with the Spirit makes judgements about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgements, for

“Who has known the mind of the Lord as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

A Thought

Paul is writing this inspired word of God to the Church and its leaders concerning the Spirit of God. Man without the Spirit does not understand the things of God; they are foolishness to him. The Spirit gives us understanding to the mystery of God’s Son that redeems us from darkness of sin into his glorious light. Then, we have the Spirit living within us to give us the mind of Christ that will help us discern God’s will in our lives and the Spirit will able us to make sound judgements that will be pleasing to God.

Our Prayer

Father we ask that you send you Holy Spirit in a powerful awakening to your Church today. We need to have the mind of Christ and the Spirit to instruct us to be your light to lead the world out of darkness and deceit. We ask that you give us unity and your wisdom to be “a wise man that wins souls”. We ask in Jesus’ name and for his glory, amen.
