2 Peter 1: 3-9

His divine power has given us everything we need for life and goodness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge, and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins.

A Thought

Is anyone having issues with evil desires? Perhaps, we have forgotten to continue to build our faith with the divine nature of God and of Jesus Christ our Lord. We must work to study God’s word to enable us to become more like Christ. We must make every effort to do good to everyone. As we get to know God better, we will learn to control ourselves, enabling us to be steadfast even when it comes with difficulty to continue to have godly virtues to produce brotherly kindness and love. When we choose to possess these great virtues, we will produce fruit for the Kingdom of God and escape the corruption in our world today.

Our Prayer

Father thank you that when we accept forgiveness which is enabled through repentance, we receive your divine nature. As we continue to grow in faith in your word, old things are passed away and we become your righteousness by your grace and peace working in our lives. Help us to keep our eyes on you and never forget that we have been cleansed from all past sins and to move on toward perfection in you. Come, Holy Spirit, come. Glory to your name through Jesus Christ, amen.
