Genesis 12: 1-4a

The said to Abram, “Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you.

“I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all people on earth will be blessed through you.”

So Abram left, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him.

A Thought

After the great flood where Noah and his family were the only ones spared from destruction, Noah’s family multiplied and were scattered over the whole land. One of the many desendants of Noah’s son, Shem, was born a son named Abram. Most of the people had ignored God and continued to sin, but a small group including Abram tried to follow God. Now, God appears to Abram. God tells Abram to leave his country, his people and his father’s household to go to a land where God will make him a great nation; God will bless him; God will make his name great; God will make him a blessing; God will bless those who bless him; God will curse all who curses him; All people on earth will be blessed through him. By faith in God and his word, Abram left along with his nephew Lot. Do you have the faith to leave the comfort of where you are to follow the lead of God, to receive and to be a greater blessing?
