Psalm 121
I lift my eyes up to the hills–where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip–he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will never slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you–the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm–he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
A Thought
A large number of the Psalms appear to have been written as praise to be sung while building faith in their Lord. Can you imagine the sounds of God’s people singing together praises as they travel in worship of their God. I remember as a very young child, as our family traveled together, the voices of praise sung by my parents with joy in their hearts building our faith to believe in our Lord God who was always watching over us. Will you teach your children and grandchildren faith to believe as you worship the Lord with joyful songs of praise while they are with you? It is time well spent together with them and in the presence of God who is worthy of our praise.
Our Prayer
Father thank you for the faith to believe in you that was given to me by my parents and grandparents. Help me to continue to give this gift of faith to believe in you to all that I meet. Praise the name of our Lord and Savior now and forevermore, in Jesus’ name, amen.
