Ephesians 5: 8-14
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said:
“Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”
A Thought
Before we come to Christ in repentance, we are dead in our sins and live in darkness not able to see our disobedience to God. When we receive the light of Christ, our evil deeds are exposed causing us to repent and move from darkness and into his marvelous light. Now we are to live as God’s dearly loved children exposing darkness by living in the light of Christ producing the fruit of goodness, righteousness and truth in our changed life to please the Lord.
Our Prayer
Father we need to wake up! We do not want to fall back into darkness. We desire to be fruitful for your kingdom. Shine your love, grace and truth in our lives that we will be obedient and please you. Help us to expose the darkness of this world by living in your goodness, righteousness and truth that others will see you through us. We ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
