Romans 8: 6-11

The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.

You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.

A Thought

Most of the actions that we choose to take, are born out of our thoughts. Before we accept Christ, our thoughts are hostile to God, centered on our own selfish desires. We, as believers, have received the peace of God by the power of the Holy Spirit, which guards our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. We must put off the desires of the flesh which once controlled our thoughts and actions. We become alive in the righteousness of Christ by the Spirit that lives in us. Now in Christ we will be led by the Spirit to grow in holiness to God, no longer controlled by our old sinful mind. What’s on your mind today?

Our Prayer

Father we desire to be alive in you controlled by your Spirit to bring glory and honor to you. Help us to guard our hearts and minds in you; to hide your word in our heart that we will not sin against you. We ask that you humble us, forgive our sins and heal our land. Thank you for your protection over our loved ones, our church family, and those that are serving you. We ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
