Psalm 47

Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy. How awesome is the Lord Most High, the great King over all the earth! He subdued nations under us, peoples under our feet. He chose our inheritance for us, the pride of Jacob, whom he loved. Selah

God has ascended amid shouts of joy, the Lord amid the sounding of trumpets. Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises.

For God is the King of all the earth; sing to him a psalm of praise. God reigns over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne. The nobles of the nations assemble as the people of the God of Abraham, for the kings of the earth belong to God; he is greatly exalted.

A Thought

The noble peoples of all nations acknowledged the God of Abraham, the one true God, Father of the Israelite nation, as King of all the earth. The rulers had seen the way God had fought the battles for his people and delivered them from all the other nations. They are now assembled together to praise God with a clapping of the hands, a shout, cries of joy, singing of psalms, and the soundings of trumpets. We need to remember God is the King of all the world, not just the Father to the Israelites. One day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. God is worthy of all praise, by all people, for all good things. Will you take a few moments to think about how great God is to you personally and sing a song of praise, a shout, or make music to him? Rejoice in the Lord! Again I say, rejoice! We will feel so much better to get our mind off ourselves and centered on the greatness of our God!

Our Prayer

Father thank you. You are worthy of all praise and honor. You have done great things in all the earth. Forgive me for being self-centered instead of centered on you, your Word and others. Fill me with a greater love for you and others. Fill me with your joy that I may sing of your praises. Awaken me by the power of the Holy Spirit that I will hear and obey your voice. Praise, glory and honor to you in Jesus’ name, amen. P.S. I love you.
