1 Corinthians 12: 1-3
Now about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant. You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols. Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.
A Thought
Paul has started teaching his brothers in Christ about spiritual gifts, wanting for all to understand that the Spirit of God will strengthen them not to be led astray to mute idols. Our first Spiritual gift is salvation found in God’s Son, Jesus Christ. When we have the Spirit of God living in us, we will not say for Jesus to be cursed; we will say that Jesus is Lord. The Spirit will equip and unite believers together while lifting each other up in love for the good of all.
Our Prayer
Father thank you for giving each of us your gifts of the Spirit to use as tools working in our lives to become more like Christ, to build up and encourage others in their love for you and others. Awaken us with the power of the Spirit to be your witnesses working in love to make your Son known to the world. We ask in Jesus’ name, Amen.
