Matthew 9: 35-38

Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

A Thought

At this time in America, all people need to have compassion one for the other. Yes, there is injustice on both sides; People are being harassed on both sides; People are seemingly helpless on both sides; There is sickness and disease; People are like sheep without a shepherd going to and fro with their own gain for an agenda. We must be in prayer for our ministers to teach and to preach the good news of the kingdom with the power of the Holy Spirit filled with love for God and one for another. It is time for all God’s people to work together in unity to produce a harvest of believers in Christ. Salvation in Christ is the good news of the kingdom.

Our Prayer

Father forgive us for our sin of being self-centered. Help us to be filled with your love and compassion for others. We need to continue the work that Jesus started by his teaching and preaching the good news of your kingdom. We ask in Jesus’ name that you send us out filled with your Spirit to bring your peace to others through the forgiveness of sin made possible by Jesus Christ, amen.
