Matthew 10: 24-33
“A student is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for the student to be like the teacher, and the servant like his master. If the head of the house has been called Beelzbub, how much more the members of the household!
“So do not be afraid of them. There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs. Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but can not kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
“Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.
A Thought
Jesus had been accused of casting out demons by the prince of devils, Beelzbub. Now Jesus warns that people may also call us names, but not to fear speaking what Jesus has told us to speak. They may kill our body, but cannot kill our soul. Know that God can kill both our body and our soul in hell. God loves us and He knows the very number of all the hairs on our head; nothing can happen to us apart from God being aware of it. If we will acknowledge Jesus before men, Jesus will acknowledge us before his Father in heaven.
Our Prayer
Father thank you for sending Christ as our teacher and master; we are his students and servants. Give us boldness to speak your word of truth and not to be ashamed or fear what man may do to us. Thank you for your love to us and that you know each thing that is happening in our lives. Help us to know the perfect love for you that will cast out all our fear, in Jesus’ name, amen.
