Psalm 45: 10-17
Listen, O daughter, consider and give ear: Forget your people and your father’s house. The king is enthralled by your beauty; honor him; for he is your lord. The daughter of Tyre will come with a gift, men of wealth will seek your favor.
All glorious is the princess within her chamber; her gown is interwoven with gold. In embroidered garments she is led to the king; her virgin companions follow her and are brought to you. They are led in with joy and gladness; they enter the palace of the king.
Your sons will take the place of your fathers; you will make them princes throughout the land. I will perpetuate your memory through all generations; therefore the nations will praise you for ever and ever.
A Thought
The Bible reference to this Psalm is that it is a wedding song. It appears at times that the verses are speaking of the coming Messiah and then starts in verse 10 describing the instructions for a beautiful bride. At an oriental wedding of a king, the bride would have been adorned with jewels of gold with many companions to attend her needs. The new bride would leave her family and would be expected to honor the king as her lord giving him many male children. All of us can use this example of how we can serve the Lord Jesus Christ with joy and gladness.
Our Prayer
Father help us to be faithful to serve you with joy and gladness. We desire to always be watchful and ready for the return of Jesus Christ when He returns to take his Church to reign with Him throughout all eternity. We ask in Jesus’ name.
